Microinverters vs. Power Optimizers
Microinverters and power optimizers are both used in solar panel systems, but they work in different ways:
- Microinverters handle each solar panel on its own to get the most energy. They cost more and are harder to install.
- Power optimizers split the system into smaller parts but still need a central string inverter to work.
- Microinverters turn solar energy into usable electricity (AC) right at the panel.
- Power optimizers help the central inverter make more energy.
Both have 25-year warranties but differ in how they’re maintained and how they work with batteries.
